Best Foot Forward: Cusop History Walk

We have rearranged our Cusop History Walk for Friday August 4th so grab your walking boots (again) and head up to Cusop Church HR3 5RF for a 9.30am start. We are hoping that there won't be torrential weather this time! This will be a walk around the parish familiarising people with places and sites of interest. The walk is about 18km with quite a bit of up and down, with stopping and talking it is likely to take about 7 hours of easy paced walking, although if you can only do a half day we have a get out option.. The route is up the Dingle past 3 mills and Brickyard, up through the woodland past the limekiln and on to Pentre Higgen, through forestry to Blaenau and New House. Then a sweep round to Craigau, the wall that some think connected to the coal mine, on to Cusop Hill then down to Broadmeadow (where Seward is thought to have died), past Penhenllan and on up to Mouscastle including the obelisk and earthworks, down past Bricklands on to the line of the old main road. Finally across the old road line from Llydyadyway to the Dingle and back up the lane to the church. Bring plenty to drink and lunch if doing full walk as there aren't any pubs on the route. There will be an option to finish just over halfway around if you don't want to do the full walk. If you can email cusophistory@gmail.co.uk to let us know you are coming, it will help to know numbers. See you then for a great day out.
