June 5th 2026 Day 1, 'Exploring the origins of Cusop'. Getting the Dig underway First day of the Cusop Dig at Cusop Castle site, and after a briefing by Tim we got busy removing the turf from the first few of the 6 marked out trenches. In the morning the Cusop History Castle team of Sue, Jane B, Jane P, Rosie and Linda got stuck in and joined the first two volunteers Leonie and Adelaide. The Herefordshire Hoard - Modern Day Pillaging Tim Hoverd Cusop Village Hall Thursday 19th February 2026 7.30pm (Free entry - donations for refreshments) The Herefordshire Hoard was discovered in 2015 by two metal detectorists. The hoard was made up of a number of gold artefacts and a quantity of silver coins, (as many as 300). The detectorists failed to get the landowners permission to detect on the land and only reported a small proportion of what was found to the author
