The Power of the Lords Marcher
On Saturday 9th September at 4pm in Cusop Village Hall, local history enthusiast Tony Usher returns to Cusop History Group with an illustrated talk about the history of the Lords Marcher who ruled the Marches of Wales from 1067 until 1536. This fascinating talk will trace the roots of the powerful Norman warrior lords who followed William the Conqueror in his invasion of Britain, through their role as defence against the Welsh. Come along and find out more about this interesting phase in the history of the Marches area . Members £3 (Visitors welcome but as membership is free during 2017-18, rather than pay the £5 visitor charge, please come along and join us and pay £3 as a member). Following the meeting there is a chance to talk to group members and perhaps borrow something from our famous "Cusop Box of Books" whilst enjoying refreshments. We look forward to seeing you there.
