Parish Hall, Sunday, Pop-Up History Museum and Talk

Come along to the Parish Hall in Lion Street, Hay on Sunday 29th September. Cusop History Group and Hay History Group will be hosting a pop-up Museum showcasing their local research projects from mid-day. Tea and coffee and lovely home-made cakes will be available. Free event - donations in aid of Dial-A-Ride.

At 4pm, the Smith-Soldat memorial lecture will be given by the renowned Tim Hoverd. "Recent research into Marcher Castles in Herefordshire” will explore recent evidence for the origins, development, use and demise of a number of castle sites within the county.

Tim Hoverd is the Project Manager for Herefordshire Archaeology, Herefordshire Council’s Archaeology Service. As such he manages a team of externally funded archaeologists undertaking community , research and conservation led projects often working in partnership with other agencies such as Historic England, The Environment Agency, Forestry Commission and English Heritage together with local community groups. He is currently involved in research and conservation works at Snodhill Castle, survey work at a forge mill near Kidderminster and has just completed a structural survey and community project at a gun powder factory in Wales
